What to write in a card when you don't know what to write.

We've all been there - staring at a blank greeting card, pen in hand, with absolutely no idea what to write! Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary, or just because, the pressure to come up with the perfect message can be overwhelming. But fear not! I’ve got you covered with these 5 easy points for what to write in a greeting card when you don't know what to write.

  1. Keep it simple: Sometimes less is more when it comes to greeting cards. Don't overthink it - a simple heartfelt sentence of congratulations, well-wishes, or gratitude is often all that's needed to make someone's day.

  2. Use humour: A little bit of humour can go a long way in a greeting card. Try adding a funny anecdote or joke to lighten the mood and bring a smile to your recipient's face. Love a bad dad joke or silly pun? Pop that in there and watch their face light up (or cringe!) when they read it.

  3. Be specific: Personalise your message by mentioning something specific about the person you're writing to. Whether it's a shared memory, a common interest, or a compliment, adding a personal touch can make all the difference.

  4. Share a quote or poem: If you're struggling to find the right words, consider using a quote or poem that reflects your sentiments. This works well especially when it's something that you and the recipient bond over. This could be a movie quote from a movie you both love, or your favourite song. Not only can this add depth and meaning to your message, but it can also show that you've put thought into your greeting card.

  5. Close with a wish or sentiment: End your message on a positive note by expressing your wishes for the future or sharing a sentiment of love or friendship. This can leave a lasting impression and show that you care deeply about the person you're writing to. I always love to end a card by thanking the person for simply being their wonderful amazing self! :)

So the next time you find yourself staring at a blank greeting card, just remember that it’s not rocket science and there is no need to feel pressure to write the perfect message! The fact that you are putting in effort to write a card is all that really matters at the end of the day. Whether it's simple, funny, personal, poetic, or heartfelt, your message is sure to be appreciated by your recipient. Happy writing!
