Cheers to a Slow Start: The Art of Embracing the Unhurried New Year

Hey my little leaf buddies! If you feel like you are off to a sleepy start this New Year fear not! – you're not alone. I have definitely hit the snooze button a few too many times this January.

I usually feel such excitement and joy for the New Year, but am really struggling to find my groove and motivation this year.

But that's totally ok! Lets normalise and embrace a slower and more gentle start to the year. We don't always have to be on a hamster wheel chasing our tails and hustling our life away! Lets look at some of the positives to a slower start to the new year!

Savour the Unplanned Moments:

Maybe you haven't conquered the world by the end of January, but who cares? Remember that cliche quote- Life is about the journey, not the destination? Cheesy but true!

Take a moment to savour the unplanned detours, the unexpected naps, and the leisurely mornings.

Life's beauty often lies in those small, unscripted moments that we tend to overlook when we're racing against the clock.

Kick Perfection to the Curb:

Repeat after me: Perfect is overrated! As a recovering perfectionist, I am slowly becoming better at seeing the beauty in the imperfect and slightly wonky aspects of life. They make for way better stories anyway!

Embrace the imperfections of your slow start – it's what makes your story uniquely yours and you aren't going to fail if you aren't hustling your way through January.

Celebrate the mess, the detours, and the slightly off-course adventures.

Life's not a checklist; it's a mosaic of experiences that shape who you are.

Shift Your Perspective:

A slow start isn't a setback; it's an opportunity to shift your perspective. Instead of focusing on what hasn't been accomplished, celebrate what you have learned, the moments of self-discovery, and the unexpected joys. Maybe your slow start allowed you to reconnect with hobbies, spend more time with loved ones, or simply appreciate the beauty of stillness. We often forget to just stop and look at how far we've come and were we are in that moment. Appreciate where you are.

Set Realistic Mini-Goals:

Break free from lofty resolutions and set realistic mini-goals. These bite-sized objectives are not only achievable but also a lot more enjoyable. By setting smaller, manageable goals, you'll find yourself celebrating victories more frequently, boosting your confidence and motivation along the way.

Embrace Your Own Timeline:

Who said there's a universal timetable for success? Embrace your own timeline, dance to the beat of your own drum, and revel in the uniqueness of you! We all compare ourselves to others and how perfect their lives look on social media. But social media has a tendency to only show the highlights.

Don't compare yourself to someones finely curated highlight reel. Your journey is like a fine wine – it gets better with time and a bit of patience.

So, here's to you! Let's embrace the rhythm of a slower start. Your journey is unfolding perfectly, just as it should. Embrace it, live it, and savour every unhurried moment. Your best days are still ahead – even with a slow start! 🌟✨

Much love and hugs, ~Bridget
